Taraba state 16 local government chairmen, under the auspices of Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON), Monday, September 21st, 2020 paid courtesy visit to the State House of Assembly and passed a Vote of Confidence on the leadership of the House.

Frontline news followed up and learnt that, the ALGON were led by their Chairman, Hon. Bala S. Bako who is also the Ibi local council Chairman, they expressed displeasure on the recent plot by some members of the House to impeach the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Joseph Albasu Kunini PhD and his deputy, Hon. Hamman’Adama to pave way for impeachment of Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku.

They described such plot by those members as not only unpatriotic but devilish, since their intention was not only to impeach the Speaker but to impeach the Governor, too, thereby throwing the entire State into chaos and breach of the relative peace.

In his speech as captured by Frontline news, ALGON chairman said,

“You might have been in the picture of unfolding events few days ago wherein some unpatriotic elements in the society were peddling rumours of effecting changes in the leadership position of Taraba State House of Assembly.

“As patriotic citizens of the State, I on behalf of all the sixteen (16) local government chairmen wish to state unequivocally that we are solidly behind our leader, the Executive Governor of the State, Arc. Darius Dickson Ishaku and the entire leadership of the State House of Assembly under Rt. Hon. Dr. Joseph Albasu Kunini.

“The unprecedented progress and development achieved in the state under the present leadership calls for support by all well meaning Tarabians.

“It’s thus our collective decision and resolution to pass a unanimous Vote of Confidence on His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Taraba State, Arc. Darius Dickson Ishaku and the leadership of the Taraba State House of Assembly under  Rt. Hon. Dr. Joseph Albasu Kunini.

May God in His infinite mercies keep us United.”

Responding, the Speaker thanked the local government bosses for the solidarity which he said has spurred him to do his best in piloting the affairs of the State House of Assembly, just as he asserted that no one is perfect but working towards perfection.

He described the plot by some of the members of the House of Assembly as unpatriotic and only undesirable elements would contemplate such, unless with collaboration of Fifth Columnist.

According to him, even the proponents of the Principle of Separation of Power have converged on a consensus opinion that strict adherence to the principle would be counter production, hence there was need for a common ground among the three arms of government.

“We assure you that we would not be detracted by such undesirable elements who are unpatriotic and want to turn Taraba State upside down.

“The Taraba State House of Assembly is a House of Equity and Justice. We are not afraid of the Fifth Columnist,” he stressed.
