COMMUNIQUE ISSUED AT THE END OF A NORTHEAST STAKEHOLDERS ROUND-TABLE DISCUSSION OF THE NATIONAL YOUTH COUNCIL OF NIGERIA, HELD ON 12TH-14TH SEPTEMBER 2020 AT BAGARI SUITE BAUCHI, BAUCHI STATE

 COMMUNIQUE ISSUED AT THE END OF A NORTHEAST STAKEHOLDERS  ROUND-TABLE DISCUSSION OF THE NATIONAL YOUTH COUNCIL OF NIGERIA, HELD ON 12TH-14TH SEPTEMBER 2020 AT BAGARI SUITE BAUCHI, BAUCHI STATE 

Preamble;

National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) was established in 1964, Is The Youth Official mouthpiece  charged with the overall objective of policy formation and implementation on issues bordering on youth development in Nigeria with it is 36 states chapters including FCT and 774 Local Government branches and affiliates with over 250 Voluntering Youths Organisations.

PURPOSE OF ORGANISING THE NORTHEAST YOUTH STAKEHOLDERS ROUND-TABLE DISCUSSION: 

The main aim of organising the event was to give a room or an avenue to our dear youths in North Eastern Region of Nigeria to meet with their leaders in Government as well as those in the Youth Council and discuss the issues bedeviling them Such as; The insecurity that led to Boko Haram, Banditary, Herdsmen, Kidnappings, Armed Robbery, and also Bad Roads all in the North Eastern region of the country, We charge the State Governors to liaise with the  Federal Government to look for possible remedies to the myriad of quagmires that beleaguered the entire North East Youth and masses at large and also bring stakeholders on issues affecting Nigerians in the North-eastern region in one spot to deliberate on solutions and make sure the State governments And North East Development Commission is Advised into acting appropriately And To create a safer environment in which Nigerians in the region can get educated and go about their daily businesses without fear of getting abducted or victimised And Those  Who Departs be returned to their communities and reunited with their family members.

REGISTRATION OF PARTICIPANTS AND ATTENDANCE;

The registration process started upon arrival of various invited youths organisations within the The Region A total number of 85 recognised and registered organisations from across the states were sequentially registered and accredited as well. The session was widely and massively attended by the prominent activists and politicians. Among those in attendace were the NYCN National President  Solomon Adodo, NYCN Board Of Trustees Chairman, Alh. Billy Tafawa Balewa, COC NYCN Forum Alh. Yusuf Tom Also NYCN Chairman Borno State, Mallam Hassan Mamman NYCN Chairman Yobe State, Chairman Gombe State Who Ably Represented by His Deputy Chairman Bala Sani, Taraba State NYCN Chairman Comr. Udi N. Adamu Pastore, And The Adamawa State NYCN Chairman Comrade Ajili Delob, The State Commandant WAI BRIGADE And Others Governmental and Non-Governmental Organisations were all in attendace.

MATTERS DISCUSSED IN THE SESSION: 

• Opening Prayer By Comrade Alyasau Gambo Musa NYCN PRO 

• Parate Display by Uniform Organisations 

• Introduction of the High Dignitaries and Officials of the NYCN By Comrade Umar Galadima 

• Welcoming Address by the Chairman of NYCN Hon. Umar Lauya Hardawa 

• Addressing Press By NYCN President Solomon Adodo 

• Prayers By Alh. Yusuf Ibn Tom Chairman Borno State (COC NYCN Forum) Chairman 

MATTER;

The Youth And women in the Northeast should be empowered by governments (North East Development Commission) and other stakeholders as this will have a ripple effect on the larger society. Also The National President Of NYCN Solomon Adodo Insists “North Eastern Youths have been left behind in all aspects of development and it is time for the youth to reorganize themselves in the path of the founding fathers of the region and be proactive in galvanizing efforts to unite and fight for the common good of all.

“With the large population of the Northern youths, are in a vantage position to bring about the desired change with rippled positive impact that can address the gross unemployment, poverty and collapse of the value system as well as social exclusion ravaging the region.”

Borno Chairman Said “the predicament of the youths in the region was as a result of years of misplacement of priority, poor budgetary allocation and government neglect”.

He added that, the situation had affected not only the youth but human capital development and other sectors in the region.

“Therefore Northern Youth should begin to actively engage leaders at all levels to ensure they get fair share of budgetary allocation to MDAs with direct impact on the youths.

“Youths should rise to the occasion, appreciate political power and face the challenges to take the leadership of this country through active participation in politics.”

He also urged the youth to pay more attention to education, which is key to the success and growth of regions.

“The Northern youth must improve themselves to enable them take their rightful position.

“Youths should endeavour to be innovative and self-reliant so as to be part of the productive force that can influence positive changes in the society.

Prayers;

We call on the Good people of Nigeria to continue to pray for peace restoration in our States, Region, and Country at large. With prayers everything is possible.

Finally we commend the effort of the Voluntary security agencies like the Peace Corps, Cadet, WAI BRIGADE and Others for making the session a success and peaceful, we say a very big thank you.
