NUJ.Describes new CPS.To Gov.Ishaku Illiya Bekyu Akweh as a determined and astute Journalist.
Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Journalist NUJ.Taraba Council Jovita Shafe has described newly appointed Chief Press Secretary to Governor Darius Ishaku as a determined and astute Journalist.
The Chairman stated this when Executive Members of the NUJ paid him a courtesy call in his office at the Government House Jalingo.
He said IIliya Bekyu Akweh demostrated some high degree of Professionalism while he was fully practising with the State Radio stressing that such traits would make him to work optimally in his new office.
Jovita Shafe notify the CPS of the lean purse of the NUJ and appealed to him to assist the incoming executives to explore other means to save the financial stand of the Council.
The Chairman said Members of the Council would be having their State Congress in six weeks time where the Chairmanship position has been zone to the Taraba State Broadcasting Service Jalingo and called on him to influence his Chapel to ensure that the right thing is done.
He assured the new CPS of full support to enable him succeed.
Responding, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor Illiya Bekyu Akweh thanked Exco’s of the Union for identifying with him which is his immediate constituency.
The CPS recalled that he was a Pioneer Executive of the NUJ where he served as Assistant Secretary and later rose to many positions in the State.
Akweh,said his appointment is for the Nigerian Union of Journalist maintaining that the success of a journalist is a collective one hence the need for Journalist to work collaboratively to achieve lofty goals.
He stated that as a proud member of the NUJ.TSBS.Chapel would ensure that there is a plain ground to ensure the right thing is done for the Chairman of the NUJ.to emerge from the Chapel.
The CPS called on Members of the Council not to allow outsiders to cause disaffection among them but to follow laid down procedures to have a peaceful and successful congress.
Akweh,Described Governor Darius Ishaku as Media friendly because he has been doing a lot for Journalist in the State.
He called on Journalist to project Governor Darius Ishaku rightly,follow the ethics of Journalism profession and be constructive in their reportage to enable him do more for the people.
The CPS said he is battling to settle down promising that as soon as that is done will table their plea to the right channel.
