ISHAKU WIFE COMMEND FEDERAL MINISTRY OF ENVIRONMENT FOR CHECKMATING CLIMATE CHANGE
Wife of the Governor Anna Darius Ishaku has commended federal ministry of environment for donating clean cooking initiatives items to the state.
Anna Darius Ishaku stated this during the presentation of the items to Hope Afresh foundation, Taraba by state ministry of Environment.
The Governor’s wife explained that the gesture will help in checkmating the increasing demand of felling down of trees for cooking purpose.
Anna remarked that demand on using firewood has led to felling down of trees leading to climate change effect in the society.
Anna appreciated her husband for his support to the foundation and assured the readiness of Hope Afresh foundation, Taraba to hand over the items to end users.
Earlier,the Commissioner of Environment, Ibrahim Lawan said the items were donated by the Federal ministry of environment for onwards distribution to rural dwellers.
Ibrahim Lawan explained that initiative is to cutdown the impact of climate change influenced by felling of trees exposing the environment to soil degradation.
The commissioner pointed out that the most affected by this ugly trend are rural dwellers who have no financial capacities to use cooking gas but depend on firewood as their only source of energy.
He revealed that the items include three hundred cylinders,seventy improved firewood stoves,and sixty charcoal stoves.
The commissioner appreciated Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku for the financial support rendered to the ministry to purchase burners for the cylinders as well as transportation of the items to the state.
Also commenting,Director Taraba Environmental Protection Agency,TEPA Julius Butu said due to negative effect of human activities on the environment leading to climate change, the clean cooking initiatives items were donated by the Federal ministry of environment to be use by rural dwellers.
