 Taraba NUT Chairman Dispels Rumour Of Dining With The Government

The chairman of Nigeria Union Of Teachers (NUT) Peter Julius Vau of Taraba State wing has called on Teachers to develop confidence in the leadership of the union.

The NUT state chairman made the call while speaking in an interview with our correspondent In Jalingo .

Peter Julius dispels the rumours making the rounds that the leadership of the union is dining with the state government.

The chairman explained that trying to call the Government to seat on a round table to discuss the union matters does not mean selling the union to the Government.

He stated that the NUT is not keeping quiet but pursuing Teachers’ interest.

According to him, NUT has been pursuing Teachers’ outstanding salaries arrears and called on the Government to intensify effort at settling the salary arrears.

Peter assured teachers that the leadership of the union has been on its feats to tackle every challenge confronting the people ranging from lack of implementation of promotion to backlog of salaries arrears.

The chairman urged the state government’s primary board to intimate the state government on Teachers’ salaries so as to enable them to live comfortably.

Vau said they have been leading the union based on accountability and auditors are always coming from far and near checking them.

On COVID-19, the NUT chairman said all schools have put in place COVID-19 prevention protocols saying the exit classes are strictly complying with the guidelines.
