MURIC On A Failed Mission To Disunite Tarabans.
Emmanuel Daniel.
It is terrible and most unfortunate that MURIC acted on fake news and exposed its sentiment against the government of Taraba state. The recent fake publication alleging that Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku of Taraba State sacked his Chief Press Secretary, Alh. Mijinyawa, an allegation that was later debunked by the Taraba state government through the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Mr. Dan Habu.
MURIC as a body quickly fell to the unfortunate practice by many and wrongly accused the Governor of Taraba State of oppressing Muslims in the state. This baseless accusation came hours when some media outlets reported that, Governor Darius sacked Alh. Mijinyawa immediately after his daughter’s wedding following a breach in administrative protocols.
MURIC should know that there are Muslims in key positions in Taraba state, they occupy important offices and are still in the system. More to the surprise created by MURIC, there are states where non-Muslims were oppressed and the oppression is still ongoing but MURIC said nothing about such acts. In a particular state of the country, a Christian was denied the position of the head of the judiciary of the state and MURIC lost its voice. Kaduna state also has Christians as citizens, but MURIC did not frown at the Governor when he brought the issue of Muslim/Muslim tickets during the 2019 general election and now it stands. There is much oppression meted out on non-Muslims in some states in the country, yet MURIC lost its sight to it but quickly feasted on fake news and belched sentiment capable of whipping up emotions.
MURIC should always study what news items disseminated by media outlets, ascertain the authenticity of the news before acting on it. This will help MURIC avoid being caught in the web of sentiment and frustration.
