Security: DDI’s Stride Toward Achieving Sustainable Peace in Taraba State.
In his bid to ensure a lasting peaceful Taraba, H.E, Arch Ishaku held series of meetings and took necessary steps to curb the insecurity situation that engulfed some parts of the state to it neighboring borders. Amidst wrong media accusations and reports, H.E Ishaku ensured that, parties to any crisis in the state were called upon to resolve their differences.
Recall that meetings were held in Nasarawa state on the Jukun/Tiv crisis in Southern part of the state, with representatives from both parties to find lasting solution to the crisis. Before the Nasarawa peace talk, a meeting was held in Abuja, where a lot was discussed to end the Jukun/Tiv crisis. The Governor went further to organise peace meeting in Wukari and also in Jalingo, all to ensure that, a peaceful Southern Taraba was achieved.
As a leader who is conscious of the security of the state, he quickly set up a committee of enquiry to get to the root course of the recent crisis that took place at Shomojole. This decision was taken to ensure that peace takes it rightful place. As advised by the National Security Adviser to the President, a joint meeting was held between Adamawa state and Taraba, with the Deputy Governor, who represented Governor Ishaku in the meeting.
Governor Ishaku has achieved a lot in terms of ensuring the security of the state. During his first tenure, he was seen holding fruitful security meetings, which ended the farmer/herder crisis in the state. He has since achieved a lot despite leadership challenges.
