GOV. AHMADU JOINS US AMBASSADOR TO COMMISSION EMERGENCY OPERATIONS CENTRE FOR THE CONTROL OF COVID-19, OTHER DISEASES

Governor Fintiri via a virtual meeting today joined Ambassador of the United States in Nigeria, Mary Beth Leonard to commission an Emergency Operations Centre EOC in Adamawa which has been equipped to track and control spread of Covid-19 and other disease outbreaks in the state.
The Centre is well equipped as operational digital situation and communication room that is to power and coordinate the state Covid-19 response, other disease outbreaks, utilizing data integration, warehousing and visualization to provide state officials transparent and realtime information on COVID-19 in Adamawa.
The upgraded centre with state-of-the-art facilities is situated at the Adamawa State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Yola equipped by United States Agency for International Development USAID, government of America and in collaboration with the Adamawa State government.
The Governor while speaking at the ceremony appreciated the government of United States of America for providing the operational centre and for being on help to Adamawa in the areas of health among other sectors of development and urged it to maintain the spirit.
Governor Fintiri said the state government has been proactive in the fight against COVID-19 and other diseases and his administration will not relent in that regard, reiterating that government will continue to partner with organizations and International donor agencies for the development of the state.
The Commissioner of Health, Professor Abdullahi Isa on his part, in an interview with newsmen shortly after the event, thanked USAID for equipping the centre which is one of the few others provided in the country by the Agency, and revealed that the intervention will go along way in containing coronavirus pandemic and other related diseases.
On his part, Doctor Steven John who is the Incident Manager for Covid-19 response in Adamawa State and Director Planning Research and Statistics State ministry of health said the centre will enable the state to see realtime data projected from the field, analyse available data on what is happening and connecting internationally with donors agencies.
Also contributing, is the Executive Chairman, Adamawa State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Doctor Sulaiman Saidu Bashir said the centre tend to monitor all points of entry into the state, and soon similar others will be established in Madagali and Mubi among others to check influx of people with diseases into the state.
