AN APPEAL FOR FEDERAL GOVERNMENT TO REVIVE THE NTA SUB-STATION WUKARI TARABA STATE.
Musa Muhammed Tsoken.
NTA SUB-STATION Wukari was commissioned during the reign of Gomwalk in the defunct Benue-Plateau State in 1978 to served the need for information dissemination of the people of formation Wukari Federation which comprises of; Wukari, Ibi, Donga, Takum, Ussa and Kurmi Local Government Areas.
It was the channel of registering the yearnings and aspirations of the people to the governments both at Local Government, State and the Federal levels.
To our greatest dismay, it have been left to moribund and derail thereby denied the people free and easy access to enjoin the privileges and purposes to which it was established.
During the reign of Chukwuemeka Chikelu as Minister of Information and Tony Eredia as Director General ( DG ) of NTA, I had personally make efforts by way of
writing appeals and recommendations to which I submitted in their various offices in Abuja. It had however yield affirmative result , namely; the approval of a digital transmitter to replace the analogue and old fashion one earlier installed there.
It is our prayers that proactive steps would be taken to see that the station is been revamp because of the following reasons;
1. It would serve as a medium to Educate, Inform and enlighten people on the global happenings and a means of promoting peaceful coexistence among people of devise ethnos religious, tribal and cultural dichotomy,
2. It would signal to the world the rich agricultural endowments, natural and human resources, extra- rich cultural heritages of the Jukun people embedded in Southern Taraba ,
3. It is also an avenue of generating substantial revenue to all levels of governments by way of advertisements, showcasing the resources already mentioned vide-supra, and also calling for both internal and international investors to put in their wealth in funding the establishment of industries in the region due to availability of natural and other resources that are clouded in the land and several others to mention but few.
